DESCRIPTION & CONDITION
Up for auction is a vintage
paper mache Mexican doll figure (a.k.a) “gourd doll”
in excellent condition. This hand made folk art doll figure of a Mexican revolutionary “Soldadera” (female Soldier)
also known as a “Adelita” is carrying her child on her back, cooking vessels around her waist and a belt of bullets on her torso.  She measures approximately 9-1/2″ and approximately 12″ in total and has a movable right arm.
– The Mexican Revolution, a major revolution, included a sequence of armed struggles lasting roughly from 1910 to 1920, and transformed Mexican culture and government.
T
his doll figure is in overall excellent condition for her age, except for the very small, minor, paint chip on the tip of the nose and very minor color fading to her skirt.  Nothing major that detracts from its displayability.  Due to her condition, it appears she was only case displayed since her original purchase. She will make a great addition to any doll collection.  Please look over photos carefully as they are part of description and ask any question before bidding.
